Investing in Renewable Energy

H-E-B is invested in growing our renewable energy sources to power stores and facilities from 14% today to over 50% by 2025. Thanks in large part to the Texas sun.

Over the next few years, we will greatly increase the amount of renewable energy that H-E-B uses. A major contributor to that growth is expanding the large solar panel footprint already in place today. We use this energy immediately in our facilities, but the expansion will help us power our business further into the future.

At H-E-B we believe in rolling up our sleeves and doing the hard work of building and supporting strong renewable infrastructure. In doing this, we are walking the walk instead of just talking the talk. When we do buy necessary power, we do so locally to invest in our Texan economy. We want Texans to be proud of the environmental commitments we’ve made today and will continue to make.

H-E-B purposely uses a multitude of energy sources, including a healthy mix of renewable and non-renewable, to create a more resilient operation. In fact, during bad storms we react by reducing our energy needs so that you are able to use more electricity at home. Instead, we dip into our own backup sources in order to help support our community.
